Leakage of the condensate at NPP Temelin

Yesterday, on August 2nd, 2006 at 16.35 was registered by the staff of Unit 2 signal output “water level” in the room A 035. Controlling the room on the place the water level in rooms A 035 and A 032 was detected. As a source of the event the unclosed hand-operated valve 2TY20S02 was identified. This valve was immediately closed and leaked medium was drained away to the special sewer system without any problems. For the period of opening of the valve approx. 18 m3 of polluted condensate escaped from the TB 30 system. Intervention levels for non-organised leakage and for floor contamination were exceeded. No persons were contaminated during this event, no leakage outside the containment and into the environment. The shift personnel evaluated this event as an unusual event. All notification duties were fulfilled. Events of this nature are considered by international standards as of low significance.
