FAQ

In connection with the narrowing of the number of potential deep geological repository (DGR) sites from nine to four, SÚJB has decided to summarise the questions of the general public and, to some extent, of the experts, which have been raised not only during the activities of the Advisory Panel of Experts of the Director of SÚRAO between November 2019 and June 2020, but also since the early 1990s, when the development of DGR in the Czech Republic was initiated.

The answers reflect the current situation in the use of nuclear energy in the Czech Republic. They are based on the current legislative environment, the Government's Policy for the Radioactive Waste and Spent Nuclear Fuel Management in the Czech Republic, the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court and, last but not least, the experience of the SÚJB staff and other interested organisations in the development of the DGR.

The answers will be continuously supplemented and updated and are intended to provide a clear and unambiguous position of SÚJB on the identified questions. In this way too, the SÚJB wishes to address the often purposeful misrepresentation of answers to questions that have been generally clearly answerable for some time.

Unless otherwise stated, the SÚJB staff has prepared the published answers.
