Iranian Vice President Mr. Alí Akbar Sálehí visited SÚJB

The Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Head of Iranian Atomic Energy Organization (AEO) Mr. Alí Akbar Sálehí was on the official working visit in the Czech Republic on May 2 – 3, 2016. During the visit he held talks with high-ranking government officials and on 3 May 2016 visited the State Office for Nuclear Safety (SÚJB).

The Vise President met the SÚJB Chairperson Ms. Dana Drábová and other SÚJB authorities. The discussion was focused on an area of a possible future cooperation between the national regulatory bodies SÚJB and AEO. Mr. Alí Akbar Sálehí was interested in SÚJB position within the Czech government and its competences as a regulatory body and with interest discussed issues of recent legislative developments in the area of nuclear safety and an upcoming Atomic Act.

SÚJB experts presented to him the Czech Nuclear Program and Post Fukushima actions in Czech nuclear facilities as well NPP licensing process, the policy of radioactive waste and spent fuel management, the radiation protection system and radon program and the Czech nuclear non-proliferation architecture. Mr. Alí Akbar Sálehí visited also the Emergency Response Center and highly appreciated the quality of the crisis management in the Czech Republic.

In conclusion Mr. Alí Akbar Sálehi expressed the hope to restore relations between SÚJB and AEO as well to develop cooperation beneficial for both sides.
