Twentieth OPCW Assistance and protection course

Traditional training course in Assistance and protection for instructors took place 17 – 25 May 2017 in Lázně Bohdaneč. The course for first responders instructors who are involved in emergency response to a chemical incident from the OPCW member states was attended by 16 trainees from 16* States Parties of the OPCW. Co-organizers of the course were the State Office for Nuclear Safety, the Population Protection Institute Lázně Bohdaneč and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. At the occasion of twentieth anniversary of the course was the Population Protection Institute awarded by memorial plaque from the OPCW. This plague is appreciation of excellent level of organized courses.

The Course was situated in the Population Protection Institute Lázně Bohdaneč. Training was focused on preparation of instructors which was guided by lectors from Institute as well as lectors from Luxembourg, Germany and Paraguay. During the course participants enhanced their skills in the field of planning, preparation, conducting and evaluation of rescue operations in contaminated areas, appropriate reaction and countermeasures in a case of incident involving chemical warfare agents or toxic chemicals including protection both in theoretical and practical way.
