Bilateral Meeting of Nuclear Regulatory Bodies of the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany

20th regular bilateral meeting of representatives of the Czech and Germany nuclear regulatory bodies was held in a period of 24 – 25 October 2016 in Munich. The meeting was organized in the Framework of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Issue of Common Interest in the Field of Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection.

The Czech delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of the State Office for Nuclear Safety (SÚJB) Mr. Petr Krs was composed of SÚJB experts as well as representatives of ministries, the Czech Consulate General in Munich, operator of NPPs (ČEZ), SÚRAO and the Special Envoy for Nuclear Energy. The German delegation, led by Ms. Martina Palm, the Head of International Cooperation Department of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, consisted representatives of federal ministries (BMUB), Bavarian ministries (StMUV) and other institutions (BfE, GRS, Preussen Electra GmbH).

Both delegations presented the latest development in the field of legislation and associated administrative (the new Atomic Act). Moreover were provided information about the role of the Special Envoy for Nuclear Energy and about the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Development of Nuclear Energy in the Czech Republic. Furthermore both sides informed each other concerning the operation of NPPs, about the storage of spent fuel and about the radiation protection and EPR. The meeting was held in a friendly and opened atmosphere, accompanied by lively discussion.
