Bilateral Meeting of Nuclear Regulatory Bodies of the Czech Republic and Poland

Bilateral meeting of representatives of the Czech and Polish nuclear regulatory bodies was held in a period of 13 - 14 July 2017 in Prague. The meeting was organized in the framework of the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Poland on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident and on Exchange of Information on Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection.

The Czech delegation was led by the Chairperson of the State Office for Nuclear Safety (SÚJB) Ms. Dana Drábová. Mr. Andrzej Przybycin, the Acting President of National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA - Paňstva agencija atomistyki), led the Polish delegation.

Both delegations presented the latest development in the field of legislation (including BSS Transposition) and a situation regarding the operation of nuclear research reactors.  Moreover, both regulatory bodies provided information about IRRS Follow-up mission which they passed this year. An extensive discussion was devoted to issues of preparation and licensing of the construction of new nuclear resources. The meeting which was held in a friendly and opened atmosphere, accompanied by lively discussion, continued the next day with a visit to Temelin NPP. Due to the ongoing outage they had a possibility also to look into containment.
